MN2S EP Vol. 3

Friday, April 5th, 2002

Only ever selecting the finest house music around, MN2S have this time enlisted in the production work of own label boss Dave Elkabas, under his MN2S guise, and studio veteran Richard Salter.

Salter has many a credit – he has previously worked with the likes of Radiohead, Macy Gray, David Bowie, Daft Punk and George Benson, (to name but a few) and has made label appearances on Mowtown and Twisted amongst many others, plus a notable accolade on Fiji – a label for the heads always supplying deep, emotive, club music.

Salter kicks off with ‘Masai Junior’ – nice, deep, house music, reminiscent of lazy afternoons in the park and summer evenings in Ibiza. Salter’s trademark smooth-flowing production skills made up with soft guitar licks, rhodes keys and soft, Naked-music-style bassline, are made complete with a faint male African vocal speech over the top. A deep house gem for early warm-up sessions.

Check ‘Got to be real’ for a more late-night, lo-fi deep house feel. This time Elkabas and studio partner Damian provide us with a deep, funky bassline, and quirky, emotive piano melody which work together to produce subtle, sleek house music with character. Think Lazy Dog meets Strictly Rhythm.

‘Go Round It’ is the second from Salter, this time upbeat and chunky, however still clean and perfectly produced. Saxaphone and catchy female vocal riffs propel the tune to summery club status, sure to make an appearance on every floor that counts.

This is the third EP for Milk’n’2 Sugars and the first appearance from London-based producer Richard Salter.
