After being hammered by the best of the best in Miami and topping DJ Magazine’s Hype Chart for a month, MN2S’s summer anthem, ‘Dutty Funk (We Can Do)’ by Timmy Vegas and Barbara Tucker, complete with remixes, will be released on CD, digital download, double-pack vinyl and ringtone this Monday 19 June!
Dutty Funk (We Can Do)’ rolls in with a catchy, synth-based melody and sublime floating strings, skilfully laid over a concoction of crisp beats, a grooving bassline and vibrant percussion, all to the tune of Barbara Tucker’s earth-shattering vocals. In short, its uplifting, modern prime-time funk that is sure to get your body moving!
As one half of the ground-breaking DJ/production duo Soul Central, Timmy Vegas brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and know-how. Having previously worked with artists as diverse as Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant, Timmy’s eclectic tastes influence both his DJ sets and productions. Dutty Funk is both a shining example of this willingness to push the boundaries and a ringing endorsement of his reputation as one of the most exciting producers currently on the scene.
An accomplished singer, songwriter and entertainer, Barbara Tucker needs little introduction. As the co-founder of The Underground Network, the longest running club night in New York City’s history, Barbara has been a strong force in the New York scene for years and has performed worldwide from London to Ibiza, both solo and alongside some of the biggest names in world music. Dutty Funk sees the songbird deliver a rich, soulful and truly inspirational performance, mixing seamlessly with Timmy’s smooth beats.
MN2S have assembled some of the scenes most influential and successful producers to contribute remixes to this massive single. Germany’s celebrated Knee Deep duo have turned in a driving mix while Manchester’s own Audiowhores have chipped in a mix worthy of their reputation as one of the UK’s hottest remix teams.
Also on the remix tip is Greg Fenton and Jonathan Dunn, better known as British production duo Soularis. The pair turn in a deep and soulful mix, as does emerging UK-based songwriter and producer Ben Smethurst, otherwise known as Soulworks.
Completing an amazing collection of diverse remixes is Chicago House mainstayer Johnny Fiasco, whose tougher peak-time mix is certain to go down well with househeads worldwide.
Watch out for Dutty Funk during the World Cup, as the track has been chosen as main bed and backing track for every World Cup game broadcast on the BBC. The hot new video is also receiving major play and features cameos by some of the scene’s biggest names including Norman Jay MBE, Michael Gray, Seamus Haji and Shovell.
