Utah Saints added to Radio 1 playlist

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Over 10 years since its original release, legends of rave – Utah Saints have reworked their massive track “What Can You Do For Me” and it’s reaching a whole new audience this time round, and quickly, as it’s just been added to the Radio 1 playlist.

The production duo hailing from Leeds have teamed up with D&B artists Drumsound and Bassline Smith this time around and have also re-done the vocal, which now comes courtesy of singer/songwriter Katherine Ellis. The track was originally recorded in Leeds on a 1mb computer and turned out to be one of their biggest hits.

Proving their current popularity, Utah Saints have provided Mixmag with their Mix of The Week. It features this track but also a couple of special Utah Saints re-edits, most notably being their version of Swedish House Mafia v Knife Party’s ‘Antidote’ and Switch & Andrea Martin’s ‘I Still Love You’.

What Can You Do for Me is out of 26th February and features remixes from Doorly, Herve and Felix Letter.

David Jones leads the way for Miami 2012 comps

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The annual onslaught of Miami compilations surely marks the start of the years clubbing calendar and they don’t come much better than the Azuli compilation that’s been compiled with David Jones for 2012.

The Italian has had consistent success both as a producer and DJ, and sits at the forefront of the current Italian talent, continually topping the Beatport charts.

The compilation is a 2CD package offering a combination of unreleased material (a total of 7 tracks that have never been heard before!), amongst a heady mix of straight up house and funky basslines from the likes of Robbie Rivera, Alex Kenji and Stonebridge on CD1 and a harder more progressive sound for CD2 with tracks from Afrojack, Bingo Players, Axwell and more.

Of course the comp is full of David Jones material – as a respected remixer who has been commissioned time and time again he includes a very favoured remix of ‘Discopolis’ and from his own productions, the hotly tipped ‘Heya’ – just to give you an example of what to expect!

As far as what else is new for David Jones, he currently has 4 tracks in the top 10 (house, electro & tech) and his upcoming single on Spinnin’ will be “E Samba”, based on a recreated sample from the seminal original – you can check out the teaser below.
