Liz Johnson is a Paralympic swimmer who is already big waves in the world in international sport and as such makes a great after dinner speaker, motivational talker and much more. Having started to swim at the age of three after being told it would be therapeutic for her cerebral palsy, Liz soon impressed and by just 14 years of age was already competing at national level.
It wasn’t long before Liz was selected for the British team and in 2006 she claimed her first medals – two golds in the IPC World Championships having excelled in the Athens Paralympics where she also picked up a second place silver medal. Her most impressive achievements came after that in September 2008 when she won the 100-meter breaststroke in Beijing. After completing her studies at Swansea, Liz moved to join the training group at the University of Bath and has since set a new record in the 50-meter breaststroke at the Disability Sport Events Nationwide Short Course Championships. As well as being such a talented swimmer, Liz hopes to take up a career in accounting and put to use her degree in business management and theatre.
Liz Johnson, then, is a Paralympic gold medalist, three-time world championship, European medalist and world record holder and so is a brilliant ambassador for Paralympic sport at any corporate, public or private event.
