Mary-Jess Leaverland is a British singer available to appear at a range of public and corporate events, on TV or radio and for a number of endorsement engagements. The 22-year-old shot to fame in December 2009 after winning Min Xing Chang Fan Tan (or in English: I Want To Sing To The Stars), which was a Chinese talent competition show on national TV.

Although Mary won this singing contest in China, given that the show was not shown in the Uk she remained relatively unknown. Even her friends and family didn’t see it as they couldn’t afford to travel to China, but now Mary has signed a major record deal – having been offered many – with Decca Records. It was during a year out of a Chinese studies course at Sheffield University – spent unsurprisingly in China – that Mary spotted the audition calls. Her first release album, Shine, came in August 2011 and peaked at 57 in the UK charts, with the next one already being written. Mary has also contributed to the Downton Abbey soundtrack, singing lead vocals on the song ‘Did I Make The Most Of Loving You?’.

Now, Mary’s song ‘Stand As One’ is the background music for the advert by Proctor and Gamble Proud Sponsor of Mums, and in 2011 Mary appeared as a soloist on BBC Songs of Praise in All Saints Church, Cheltenham.
