Deep House music is a sub-genre of House Music that emerged around 1995 and then experienced a revival through the 2000s. Early Deep House Records took their influences from early Chicago House fused with elements of the jazz funk movement of the late 1980s, as demonstrated by complex chords that are held throughout Deep House songs, giving them a dissonant but funky and danceable feel.
As Deep House mixes developed, they began to draw much more on disco, eventually resulting in a fusion between Deep House and Disco House. Deep House music is also characterized by the use of very chic and soulful vocal snippets, of which most Deep House Samples are taken from old Soul and MoTown songs. Because Deep House is one of the first emergent genres of House, legendary Deep House DJs and producers have spent many years developing their craft and in so, their status. Deep House artists are some of the most respected and well known artists in the worldwide Dance Music scene today.
Some examples of Deep House artists include Louie Vega and Kenny Dope, who together make Master at Work, and Frankie Knuckles, who is credited by some to be the father of House Music altogether. MN2S is a massive proponent of Deep House music as is demonstrated both by the various record labels we manage and by the DJs and Live acts we represent. MN2S manages several record labels; many of which produce tracks in the Deep House genre – for example Tonality Records, Zombie Soundsystem, and MN2S Recordings.
MN2S also has several seminal Deep House Artists on their artist roster, including Kerri Chandler and Marshall Jefferson.
