"Let's Work", "Pump Up The Jam" and "The Rub" have firmly placed Kurd Maverick at the top of the house scene.
Mr. Maverick, aka Cihan Ötün, spent his early musical career touring Europe with a band before he discovered electronic music at a club in Dusseldorf. With his natural aptitude for harmonies and rhythms and being influenced by artists such as Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden and Todd Terry, Maverick rapidly fell in love with house music.
He made his debut at various venues across Germany including Noh Club and Tribehouse and eventually secured residency and a strong international reputation. Maverick first appeared on the scene in 2005 with his astonishingly successful remix of Technotronic’s Pump Up The Jam where he experienced worldwide success and immediately established himself as a recognized producer. Maverick’s second single The Rub went onto achieve similar success and consequently cemented his reputation amongst the world’s elite producers.
Through his talent and creative vision Kurd’s appeal quickly increased and, in addition to his production work, he established himself as a leading remixer and international DJ. He has so far remixed the likes of Robbie Williams, Bob Sinclar, Basement Jaxx, Herbert Grönemeyer, Rosenstolz, Erick Morillo and Paul Johnson.
In 2006 his collaboration with Eddie Thoneick on Love Sensation achieved widespread commercial success and he has subsequently followed this up with releases such as Let’s Work and Strings Of Tortuga. In 2009 Kurd achieved further international success with his remake of New Order’s seminal Blue Monday which is due for release on Data; in the same year he produced and released Love Emergency in collaboration with Sam Obernik on Funktion Recordings.
In 2010 Maverick released another single entitled Shine A Light on D:Vision Records, showcasing remixes from the likes of Eddie Thoneick, David Tort and Dani Villa.
