Since releasing their debut EP Fireflies on MindStep Music last year, My Nu Leng have been gaining more and more accolades.
The Bristol based duo has a hard-to-categorise sound which draws on many different influences but kowtows to none in particular. Anything from pitched shifted vocals to bass heavy rumbles feature in their sounds, always going deep to match the vibe at Thekla where the pair hold a residency for forward looking club-night 51’27.
The duo also spans the genres and tempos on their own radio show and at gigs around the country. Their recent release ‘Time Goes By’ on MindStep Music and new Damp EP on Lo-Note UK both exhibit a penchant for dark and moody music that re-imagines garage influences in fresh and exciting ways. Others include “The Grid” b/w “Hips & Thighs” on 877 Records deals in more heavyweight rhythms, scuttling textures and solid 4/4 beats. Finished with a subtle vocal it’s been raved about by press and punters alike, ensuring the pair’s rise will continue apace in 2013.
