Funky House

Funky House is one of the many sub-genres of House Music. Funky House music draws very heavily on disco, as implied by its name, and is the most commercially viable sub-genre of House. Funky House music is generally characterized by vocals, usually female, that are used to give the Funky House Song structure and give it its commercial, sing-along appeal. The vocals used in Funky House music are similar to the diva-like vocals found in Disco, old Soul and MoTown music which gives Funky House its sexy, chic, and slinky feeling. Its exclusive feel makes new Funky House international and cosmopolitan enough to cause an emergence in the creation of many more Funky House Club nights and Funky House Clubs, which are clubs solely dedicated to playing different types and sub-genres of Funky House tunes.

Recently, a new type of Funky House has reached extreme popularity in the UK market: UK Funky House. Unlike Funky House, UK Funky House draws its roots in garage, broken beat, reggaeton, soca, and other worldly forms of non-electronic dance music. Also, rather than having diva-like vocals, UK Funky House uses R&B style vocals, making it more calm and accessible. Funky House has been around since the inception of House Music and has historically been the most popular and profitable sub-genre of House Music, but UK Funky House emerged extremely quickly, albeit to massive popularity. Even though UK Funky House has yet to stand the test of time, it is currently looking promising. A major similarity between UK Funky House and Funky House, is that both are considered to be uplifting, sexy, and appealing.

Here at MN2S we have incorporated UK Funky House and Funky House into our roster with acts such as Crazy Couzins (representing the former) and Fedde le Grand.
