Famous for being a little zany, and known for not taking things too seriously, Klunk + Zilly are back with a superb 3-tracker that is true to form.
Confidently disingenuous from the outset, ‘Love And Fate’ is an unashamed slow-burner, an effortlessly cool meander into deep flavours – the track’s brooding tension never relents, creating a totally immersive atmosphere inside which sung and chanted vocal riffs sublimely fuse together.
Retro-rhythmically supported and charmingly a little down-tempo, ‘Smooth’ takes an evolving reverberant synth pad hook and sees where the journey goes… the laid-back, sultry result is best enjoyed whenever the feeling takes hold.
Lewis Ryder gives balance to the release with his 303-led re-imagination of ‘Trip Report’ – the drug-inspired speech from midpoint through the track takes on a mesmerising quality in tandem with the persistent bass throughout, merging together into a welcome dancefloor weapon !
Never a label to drag its creative heels, this intriguingly assembled EP is a must this summer.
