Crystal Waters has recently released a teaser video of her new song ‘Say Ya’ that she has produced with Fred Pellichero. And tease us it has! The song has been available on Beatport for download since July last year along with the remixes. The video has been much anticipated since the single was first heard and it’s looking just great!
The story behind Crystal Waters is totally fascinating and a real demonstration of fate. Somewhat unsurprising though, being born into such a successful musical family (her father was a famed Jazz musician and Aunt, Ethel Waters was one of the first African American vocalists to appear in mainstream Hollywood musicals). Crystal started writing poetry at 11 but it wasn’t until a while later that this would become musical.
After studying computer science, she took a related job to support her children. A couple of years later she worked as a writer and secured a writing contract at a record label. It was then that she penned ‘Gypsy Woman’ for Ultra Nate but after recording the demo with her voice on, it was never passed on to Ultra and was released as her! The track reached number 2 in the UK charts and stayed in for 16 weeks.
Crystal Waters has generally stayed more close to the dance genre but had other mainstream hits such as ‘100% Pure Love’ and ‘Dancefloor’. She released ‘When People Come Together’ last July and has been working on ‘Say Ya’ since then – can’t wait for the full video!
