Having worked in the dance music industry for almost two decades as a promoter, label owner, radio station owner and DJ, As I Am laid the foundations for his production career with years of hard work and experience.
He grew up in South-East London under the tutelage of a bass-playing father who exposed him to a wealth of ‘80s disco, and learned to play the keyboard. He found his dance music education through local pirate radio stations, which eventually lead to his involvement in the radio scene. Now providing guest mixes for BBC Radio 1Xtra and Pete Tong’s Evolution Radio show, he’s come a long way since those days.
Since focusing on production in the last few years, he has found success through hugely popular releases on Azuli, Simma Black, Get Twisted Records and Whore House, with tracks licensed to Hed Kandi, Bargrooves, Toolroom, SubSoul and Ministry Of Sound. His hit ‘Saving Grace’ on Defected spent nearly 4 months on the Beatport charts, and received the Best Track accolade at ADE 2014 from DMC’s Daytime Buzz Chart. He also recently remixed Beyonce’s huge ‘7/11’ for Columbia / Sony, a major asset on any producer’s CV.
With support for his music from the likes of MK, Pete Tong, Dennis Ferrer, Danny Howard, Tough Love, Sam Divine, Terrence Parker, EZ and many more, he comes with some serious seals of approval.
