OMI debut album + Gibraltar Music Festival | News | MN2S

OMI has unveiled his new single ‘Hula Hoop’, the infectious follow-up to global chart smash ‘Cheerleader’. The track comes alongside the announcement of his long-awaited debut album, ‘#Me4U’, which is now available to pre-order and will be released on October 16 via Ultra Records. You can listen to the new single in the player below.

In other news, he also has a new booking via MN2S at Gibraltar Music Festival on Sunday 6 September, alongside Kings Of Leon, Madness, Kaiser Chiefs and more.

‘Cheerleader’ was originally released in 2012 and hit No.1 in Jamaica, but it was German EDM producer Felix Jaehn’s reworking last year that sent the track into orbit. The huge summer anthem has racked up close to 300 million YouTube views across all uploaded versions. It took until this year for the track to reach its full potential, breaking streaming records in various countries on Spotify (over 250 million streams) and topping Shazam’s global charts (entering their ‘Hall Of Fame’) while making its assault on the charts across the world. It has sold over 640,000 copies in the US alone.

It hit No. 1 in the UK and stayed there for four weeks – breaking the record for longest No. 1 held by a Jamaican artist in the country. It also topped the charts across Europe, including in Germany, France, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden, while hitting iTunes No. 1 and peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 100 in the USA. The single has also achieved Platinum sales status in the UK and in many markets across the world.
