Tech House

Tech House is a fusion-genre of House Music and Techno Music. The term Tech House is said to have been originally coined by legendary House Music DJ Mr. C. Essentially, Tech House music combines the drum aspects of Techno and Minimal with a 4 to the floor beat, with a vocally soulful melody that is generally characteristic of House Music.

The tempo of Tech House leans more towards that of Techno which is a bit faster than house. Tech House Samples are generally more soulful and vocally driven. Tech House began to gain popularity in the early 1990s just as Detroit Techno began to expand to the rest of the world.

Amongst the labels in the MN2S label group, 1trax is the label dedicated to Tech House. These days, Tech House has developed its own sub genres, including Electro Tech House, Deep Tech House, and Pumping Tech House. Electro Tech House is essentially a combination of Electro clash and Tech House with electro and house riffs and basslines as well as Techno drum patterns. Deep Tech House music is the most underground of the subgenres, classified as a combination of darker, more moody House and Progressive House. Pumping Tech House is characterized by a very heavy , prominent beat with robotic vocals, created by using a vocoder, and a thumping bass line. Pumping Tech House was made famous in 2003 by Benny Benassi in his hit single “Satisfaction”. Tech House music also facilitated and started the Electro House movement of the mid-2000s; supported and popularized by acts such as Dirty South and Bodyrox (who are on the MN2S DJ Roster).
