Brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll are Orbital, the legendary electronic duo that defined the sound of rave during the 90’s. After recording their essential track ‘Chime’ on their father’s cassette deck, they found rave stardom with their 1993 self-titled album, staying in the UK album chart for fifteen weeks. Their 1994 Glastonbury performance (rated as one of the top 50 gigs of all time by Q Magazine) was televised on the BBC and credited with bringing dance music out from the underground and into the public consciousness, giving the genre the crucial push that it needed to enter into the mainstream.
Over their illustrious career these electronic titans have released nine studio albums. Career highlights include their two self-titled albums, 1996’s ‘In Sides’ and 1998’s ‘The Middle Of Nowhere’. The band have split and reformed several times, taking breaks to pursue solo projects – their latest comeback came in February 2017 as they released new single ‘Copenhagen’ and returned to the stage, playing two sold-out shows at the Manchester O2 Apollo and the London Eventim Apollo.
Orbital’s latest album, ‘Monsters Exist’, offers more of the mind-expanding, politically-minded rave and electronica that has made them household names across the UK and beyond over an incredible 30-year career. The band are returning to stages and venues worldwide this year to showcase their incredible talents as DJs, invoking the spirit of rave with eclectic sets that span acid house, electronica, breakbeat and techno.
