Dance duo Reel 2 Real is an act that has transcended musical boundaries. Best known for the worldwide mega-hit ‘I Like To Move’ it back in the 90s, the Reel 2 Reel project is one conceived and carried out by legendary dance DJ and producer Erick Morillo. Reel 2 Reel also had various other huge UK chart Top 20s and all came about after New Yorkian Morillo got picked up by the famous house label Strictly Rhythm after his big hit ‘The New Anthem/Funk Buddha.’ As soon as Erick was signed up to the label he was paired with Trinidad-born vocalist Mad Stuntman (also known as Mark Quashie),and together they formed Reel 2 Real and in 1993 served up their first massive hit.
Morillo always looks to combine Latin influences in his house beats as he himself is of Colombian and Dominican heritage. He had been a DJ since his teens and studied production at New York’s Center of Media Arts before working on a number of reggae remixes so was well primed to take Reel 2 Reel to the charts. He did so again and again and released the Move It album to a great reception in 1994. The pair also cooke dup a second LP in the form of Are You Ready For Some More and Michael Watford, Barbara Tucker and Althea McQueen all gusted with vocals. As Morillo’s stock continued to rise, so Reel 2 Real became a household name for many different generations across the world.
