At the dawn of the 2000s, Jacquetta Wheeler was rightly being hailed as one of the “faces of the new millennium” and ranked as one of the highest-earning British models. 20 years later, she still models but is also an established photographer. She has appeared in campaigns for the likes of Burberry, Calvin Klein, Givenchy, Gucci, Yves St Laurent, and many others. She has also graced the covers of Vogue in various countries.
Born and bred in Kent, Wheeler has breeding — she is a very distant descendent of Tudor King Henry VII — and is the daughter of the late multimillionaire businessman, Stuart Wheeler. Her successful career, however, was all her own work. She was talent-spotted, aged 15, by a French fashion designer who asked her to appear in his latest show in Milan. Soon afterwards, on her way to a hair appointment, she was stopped again, this time by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino. Before long, she was on the cover of Vogue and fronting ad campaigns for Gucci — and all while she was still at school.
By the time she was 18, Wheeler was being dubbed the Model of the Millennium by the then-influential Face magazine. The early Noughties proved to be a golden era for her as she modelled for many of the biggest names in contemporary fashion. In recent years, she has focused largely on working the other side of the lens as a photographer. She is also raising her family and splits her time between her homes in England and Tangier, Morocco.
