Italian-American character actor John Capodice is one of America’s most beloved actors, with an impressive filmography that stretches from 1982 to the present. He is best known for appearing in popular television series, Off-Broadway productions, commercials and feature films, often portraying gritty mobsters, no-nonsense cops and scruffy streetwise schemers.
Born in Chicago, Capodice began his career in the late ‘70s, appearing in the ABC soap opera Ryan’s Hope. Numerous guest roles followed, including Kate & Allie, Murphy Brown, Knots Landing, Hunter, Law & Order and Spenser: For Hire. He’s also made memorable appearances in television ads for Polly-O String Cheese and Dimetapp Cold Medicine. His most recent television roles are in popular productions such as The West Wing, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Six Feet Under. Capodice has also appeared in a long list of feature films, including memorable pictures such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Speed, Independence Day, Shut Up and Kiss Me, Enemy of the State and A Month of Sundays.
Not only an on-screen performer, Capodice is known for his theatre work. He’s appeared in a range of Off-Broadway productions, appearing in Getting Out and the Marymount Manhattan Theatre, a play that won two Outer Critics Circle Awards. He’s also appeared opposite John Lithgow in the Broadway production of Requiem for a Heavyweight.
