Retired English cricketer Ian Botham was fantastic all round talent who was a key part of the England side of the 70s and 80s. A fearsome bowler, tough competition and fine man to have in your side, he is now a prominent pundit with Sky TV and is someone who dedicates a lot of his time to charity. The flamboyant talent is known for speaking his mind, for being a real character for being one the most successful players of the English game ever. Famously, his best ever appearance came in the 1981 Ashes test at Headingley where Ian led England to the most spectacular and unpredictable recovery against Australia.
Ian was a talented footballer as a youth but eventually chose cricket and for his serves to the sport and to charity has been awarded an OBE. In his career, he took 383 wickets at an average of 28.4 and scored 5,200 runs at an average of 33.54. He was the sort of player who could really change games. Now someone who has been the face of a number of brands, Ian is a big character and prolific charity fund raiser who has undertaken many punishing walks around the world, including from Lands End to John O Groats many times. Now regularly providing commentary on Sky Sports coverage of England’s international cricket, Ian Botham is a real star who excites all manner of audiences and always entertains where he appears.
