Stephania Bissonnette is a professional American dance teacher, choreographer, and performer. She is best known for her debut role on the Broadway musical Mean Girls, Dawn Schweitzer. On top of this grand accomplishment, Bissonnette has also choreographed many dances for well established theatres such as The Muny, Riverside Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, And Seven Angels Theatre. She has appeared in a few music videos as well including Keith Urban’s ‘Never Comin’ Down’.
As a lifelong performer, Bissonnette graduated from Point Park University’s Conservatory of the Performing Arts with a BA in Dance Performance. After school, she ended up traveling the world while performing with Royal Caribbean. Following her time with Royal Caribbean, Bissonnette eventually settled down in New York City and has since been teaching and choreographing in and around the city for five years. While residing in New York, she decided to audition for a part in the Mean Girls musical developmental lab. After nine callbacks, she was able to secure the role of ‘‘Dawn Schweitzer’ and create a name for herself as an actor in the big leagues.
Through her movement and performance in Mean Girls, doctors had discovered devastating news. Bissonnette was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After undergoing intense treatment, she was eventually able to return to the Broadway stage and resume her performances in October of 2018. Bissonnette is not only a strong performer, but an incredibly resilient individual who embodies the: “the show must go on”.
