Best known for his role in the Iraq war, Colonel Tim Collins became internationally recognised for his inspiring speech to troops on the eve of the invasion in Iraq.
Beginning his career in the Army as a part of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Irish Rangers in Berlin, Collins completed several tours in both Northern Ireland and the Falklands. He later went on to take on the role of UN Chief of Staff in Cyprus and then promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. It was during this time that Collins was the commanding officer of the 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment when on Wednesday 19 March 2003 he gave his famous battle cry to troops before the Iraq war. Collins went on to become the Project Director for the Peace Support Training Centre in Sarajevo. Now heading up a security services company, Collins has worked on projects that train Afghans and have helped African armies to contain the Ebola threat.
Alongside his career, Collins has enjoyed success with his bestselling autobiography Rules of Engagement. He also makes regular media appearances including hosting the three-part documentary Ships That Changed The World in 2007 and a BBC special Panorama documentary Forgotten Heroes. An inspiring public speaker, Collins draws on his extensive experience in the military along with the importance of teamwork, leadership and motivation. He discusses the parallels between these skills and those required in the modern workplace as well as challenges faced by leaders across all industries.
