With over 70 film credits and 300 episodes of television under his belt, Willie Garson is an American actor who has rarely been at a loss for work. His most famous roles include Stanford Blatch on the hugely popular Sex and the City, Mozzie on White Collar, Gerard Hirsch on Hawaii Five-0, Martin Lloyd in Stargate SG-1 and Henry Coffield on NYPD Blue.
Hailing from New Jersey, Garson began to learn his craft at New York’s Actors Institute before studying theatre and psychology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. It didn’t take him long to start landing guest roles straight after graduation, and his early appearances in the 1980s included parts on Family Ties, Cheers, L.A. Law and Thirtysomething. The next decades saw Garson land numerous recurring roles in television shows such as Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Two and a Half Men, Ally McBeal, Boy Meets World, Pushing Daisies and Stargate SG-1.
In 1998 he shot into the limelight when he landed the role of Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City alongside Sarah Jessica Parker, and he went on to reprise the role for two movies: 2008’s Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2 in 2010. He has also appeared in three hit films by the Farrelly brothers: Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary and Fever Pitch, and has featured in The Rock, Groundhog Day, Being John Malkovich, Mars Attacks! and many other hit movies.
Now in the fifth decade of his glittering acting career, Garson continues to impress with his roles on both television and film.
