The MN2S Guide to Dance Music in 2018 | Features | MN2S

We take a look at what the rest of 2018 has to offer dance music fans.

Dance music of all kinds had one of its most successful years ever last year. There were low points (Fabric’s closure among them), but there were high points too (Fabric’s reopening among them). The biggest DJs in the world set new world records for earnings, and a string of club classics and festival bangers were released. With all of that behind us, and 2018 well underway, here is everything else dance music fans have to look forward to this year.

RIVERO’s new single, ‘Down Dirty’

From the moment he came on the scene, RIVERO has been one of the most exciting DJs around, with everything he touches turning to gold. His latest single, ‘Down Dirty’, has already been released on Revealed Recordings, and it’s ready to take over dancefloors everywhere. You’ll no doubt hear the heavy and, yes, dirty track in a club near you any day now.

Parris Mitchell, DJ Deeon and Dance Mania’s Rinse FM Takeover

On March 17th, Parris Mitchell and a group of fellow Dance Mania veterans will host a very special Rinse FM takeover dedicated to the label. The show will feature live spinning from a roster of 10 Dance Mania DJs as curated by Deeon, Mitchell and Ray Barney. Expect ghetto house classics alongside newer deep house anthems.

We Are FSTVL 2018

Upminster’s annual gathering is always one of the biggest events on the dance music calendar, but this year’s lineup is a cut above the rest. House heroes Todd Terry and Carl Cox appear on the bill alongside young guns Jamie Jones and Will Taylor. BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth will be representing grime. Book tickets now to ensure you don’t miss out.

Amsterdam Dance Event 2018

Always a highlight of the year for any dance music fan, not to mention us here at MN2S, ADE brings dance music fans and industry professionals together in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Attendees can educate themselves at a number of industry panels during the day, and hit the clubs at night to witness a who’s who of electronic music talent behind the decks.

Major Lazer’s rumoured new album

With the dance music group releasing some of the most popular and acclaimed singles of the past few years, anticipation is high for their next full-length release. The album, tentatively titled Music Is the Weapon, is rumoured to be due out this year, with a 12-song tracklist and an impressive roster of special guests. Time will tell if the album is released this year or next, but it’s something for fans to look forward to regardless.

Madeon’s new album

Maverick producer Madeon is slated to release his sophomore album later this year. After his 2015 debut album took the dance music world by storm, expectations are sky high for the follow-up. The DJ is yet to confirm a release date, but he has promised to finish the album in 2018, so fingers crossed we’ll have it soon.

Little Boots’ BURN EP

Anything new from Little Boots is worth getting excited about, and her imminent Burn EP is no exception. We spoke to the DJ/singer-songwriter about the release, and she told us about how important it is that every aspect of the EP was created by women, from production to performance to art direction. Read our Little Boots interview to find out more, and look out for the EP in April.

Annie Mac’s second Lost & Found festival

After a hugely successful launch in 2017, the Annie Mac-curated Lost & Found festival returns for its second year. With no signs of a sophomore slump, the Malta-based festival has attracted several big names including Diplo, Jamie XX, Four Tet, J Hus, and of course Annie Mac herself.
