Chelsea team forward and a key part of the French national side, Olivier Giroud is a professional football player.
As a child, Giroud played for his local team in Grenoble, the Olympique Club de Froges. When he was just 13 years old he joined the team’s development programme, turning professional when he was 21. A period on loan to Istres turned out to be crucial for Giroud, as he trained hard and improved his skills, setting him up for his three year deal with Ligue 2 club Tours. He had a good two years with the club, being promoted to lead striker and becoming the division’s top scorer. In 2010 he was snapped up by Ligue 1 team Montpellier, helping them to win the title that year before moving to the UK to join Premier League team Arsenal. He received an FA Cup winners medal in 2014, 2015 and 2017, before transferring once again to Chelsea where he has played since. This in-demand striker has also enjoyed a successful international career, making his debut for the French side in 2011. Giroud has played in the UEFA Euros in both 2012 and 2016, as well as leading his team to victory in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
This skilful and accurate player has built up a reputation as a powerful and hardworking player, having already had a great start to the 2019- 2020 season. Giroud looks set for many more years of great football with Chelsea.
