Stephanie Jae Park is an American actor, singer, and dancer currently playing the biggest role of her career so far: Eliza Hamilton in a Broadway touring production of Hamilton. It’s the latest step-up in the career of the dedicated and talented all-rounder. Her previous Broadway credits include Cinderella, War Paint, and The King & I. She also has a long resume of regional theatre work, including playing Tuptim, one of the leading roles in The King & I, at the Muny in St. Louis, the biggest outdoor theatre in America.
Now based in New York, Park was the youngest sibling in a musical family and fell in love with singing, playing piano, and performing at a very young age. She began training in opera singing at Northwestern University in Illinois, but the lure of the theatre proved too great, so she transferred the 300 miles west to Cincinnati College’s Conservatory of Music, graduating with a BFA in Musical Theatre. After this, she began working at theatres across Western America, building up her experience in the likes of Legally Blonde (Colorado), Oklahoma! (Chicago), and The Music Man (New York).
Park made her Broadway-related debut in a touring production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, playing in the ensemble and understudying the role of Marie. In 2016, she was the understudy and swing for numerous roles in the King & I, appearing as a replacement for Tuptim. She followed this in 2017 playing various roles in War Paint. Her big break came soon after when she joined the Hamilton touring cast, acting as a replacement for all the leading female roles and taking over the role of Eliza Hamilton.
