The renowned American actress, comedian and activist, Kathy Najimy, is best known for her leading film and TV roles, along with her activism work.
Beginning her career on the stage, Najimy’s comedy play The Kathy and Mo Show, in which she co-starred alongside Mo Gaffney, premiered during 1986 in New York City. It’s success went on to gain not one but two HBO TV specials during the early 90s. Of her other television work, Najimy has also appeared in hit shows including Ellen, Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty. Having also starred in numerous animated series throughout her career, Najimy is known for her roles in King of The Hill, American Dad! And Rugrats. After landing her first films roles during the early, 90s, Najimy rose to fame when she took on her leading roles in the comedy films Sister Act, Sister Act 2 and Hocus Pocus. She has since gone on to work alongside numerous A-list actors in hit films including Rat Race, the Pixar Academy award-winning film WALL-E and more recently, Netflix’s Dumplin’.
Alongside her highly successful acting career, Najimy is also a passionate activist for equal rights, animals rights, as well as women’s health and reproductive rights. Having travelled extensively, Najimy was a speaker as part of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. She was awarded Humanitarian of the Year award during 2000 and Compassionate Action Award during 2014 by PETA. During 2004 Najimy was also named Woman of the Year by Ms. Magazine.
