Actress and model Isabella Rossellini is world famous as the face of Lancôme and for appearing in hit movies such as Death Becomes Her and Blue Velvet. She has earned many awards and accolades for her movie performances throughout her glittering career, including an Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead in David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. As well as appearing in over 45 films, she has starred in many television series including iconic sitcom Friends, Alias, a Golden Globe-nominated performance in Crime of the Century and Chigaco Hope, which earned her an Emmy Award nomination in 1984 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
ossellini was born cinema royalty as the daughter of ground-breaking Italian director Roberto Rossellini and Swedish three-time Oscar winning actress Ingrid Bergman. Born and raised in Rome, Italy, Rossellini was determined to find her own way in life and moved to New York where she became a RAI television reporter and translator. She began modelling when she was 28 years old after she was photographed for American Vogue and British Vogue, and went on to become the spokesmodel for French cosmetics giant Lancôme.
Despite a successful modelling career, Rossellini was destined to become an actress. After several minor film roles, she was cast in her first US film White Nights in 1985, followed by the role of Dorothy Vallens in Blue Velvet. Rossellini’s portrayal of the tortured night club chanteuse earned her critical acclaim and established her as one of Hollywood’s most in demand actresses. Rossellini has proved that she’s very much her own woman despite her famous parents, and has earned her reputation as one of the bravest and most talented actresses of her generation.
