Singer, songwriter and record producer – Tyler Carter does it all. As the lead vocalist and founding father of Issues, an American metalcore band, Carter also plays drums amidst his other talents. Hailing from Habersham County, Georgia – Carter started out his musical profession hopping from band to band in local Atlanta, where he soon rose out of the underground and into the more public sphere, joining metalcore outfit Woe, Is Me and contributing to their debut studio album Numbers.
Carter’s departure from Woe, Is Me saw further development to his musical career. Bringing together his new project with a few former members of his previous band, Issues was born – and took the scene by storm. Releasing a debut EP Black Diamonds in 2012 followed by a stand-alone single Hooligans in 2013. It was clear that Issues was a success, and it was all the legwork by multi-talented Carter that got the ball rolling. However, the band were still struggling to reach the commercial heights that had been envisioned, until the release of their full-length studio album Issues, which reached an impressive number nine on the US Billboard 200.
After vocalist Bohn departed in 2018, Carter became the sole vocalist. Due to internal problems, Carter moved on, co-founding the powerful duo Emerald Royce alongside Chris Link. This didn’t stop Carter pursuing his solo goals, offering multiple releases and collaborating with a wide range of artists, all improving his eclectic palette of musical talent.
