Legendary voice actor David Kaye is one of the entertainment industry’s most respected artists. Known best for his portrayal of Megatron in the Transformers series for over three decades, the Ontario-born Kaye is a vital part of the animated movie and video game world.
Beginning in 1989 as General Hawk on G.I. Joe, Kaye went on to appear in several popular animated series. From 1988 to 1996, he voiced several characters in 39 episodes of Ronin Warrior and began his long stretch as one of anime’s most cherished voice actors. Among a host of other series in the genre, Kaye is well known for his time on Dragon Ball Z from 1997 to 2001 and in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing from 1995 to 1996. In 1996 came his casting for Beast Wars: Transformers as Megatron, where he appeared in 49 episodes. From thereon, he became one of the most prominent voices in action animated series. He appeared in 40 episodes of RoboCop: Alpha Commando, 47 episodes of X-Man: Evolutions as several characters including Professor X, and continued his reign as Megatron in the Transformers series for the decades following. Kaye has also appeared himself in shows such as The X-Files, Battlestar Galactica and Happy Gilmore.
Kaye has also become one of the video game world’s most popular voice actors, appearing in Assassin’s Creed, Legend of the Guardians, Call of Duty, among many others. As a narrator, he has most recently appeared in shows such as Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. With a voice acting career as strong as ever, Kaye continues to be one of the most important voice actors of our time.
