Popular Canadian actress Tesya Teles is best known for playing Echo in over 50 episodes of the hit CW drama series, The 100, which finally came to an end in September 2020 after seven successful seasons. The show was a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller set 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse destroys life on Earth. Now the descendents of groups of people who had been living in space at the time are the first to return to the planet. Teles first played Echo in the second season, becoming a recurring character in the fourth and finally being promoted to the main cast for the final three seasons. The show was nominated for a host of major awards and won the Saturn Award for Best Youth-Oriented Series. Teles’ profile has blown up since appearing on the show, and she is hugely popular on social media, being within touching distance on one million followers on Instagram.
Teles was born in Toronto in 1985 but moved with her family to Vancouver when she was five. Her passion for acting took her to Montreal where she studied theatre at Concordia University. Her first screen roles came in 2013 with appearances in independent films and one-off roles in TV shows. Her first recurring role came with a part in the internationally produced police drama series, Rogue. The following year, she joined the cast of The 100, propelling her career upwards. In 2018, she was nominated for a Leo Award for her performance in the sci-fi series Travelers.
