Welsh footballing legend, Robert Earnshaw, is known for his natural goal scoring ability. Amazingly, the striker is the only player to have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League, all three divisions of the Football League, the League Cup, the FA Cup, and for his national team. Earnshaw won the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Tel Aviv and was in numerous PFA Teams of the Year during his time in England, as well as being Welsh Player of the Year for his country. Earnshaw played for a number of top clubs during his playing days, such as West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City, Derby Country, Toronto FC, Blackpool, Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps.
As a youngster, the talent progressed through Cardiff’s youth system, scoring over 47 goals for the club’s youth side in a single season, including a hat-trick in a Welsh Youth Cup final. Due to his outstanding goal scoring record as a youngster, Earnshaw made his debut in an FAW Invitation Cup match against Wrexham at just the age of sixteen. The rising star went on to score 86 goals in 183 appearances during his first spell at the Welsh capital. Another notable spell in Earnshaw’s career was at Nottingham Forest, where he scored an incredible 43 goals in 111 games, making him one of the club’s most successful strikers.
The Welsh wizard began working as a youth coach with the Vancouver Whitecaps after his playing career. Shortly after, Earnshaw was made an assistant coach for United Soccer League side Fresno FC. The demand in the US for Earnshaw’s coaching ability shows how influential the Welshman’s career has been across the globe.
