Gamblers is an innovative American rock band formed in 2014, based in Long Island, New York. The band features a dynamic lineup, including vocalist/guitarist and principal songwriter Michael McManus, lead guitarist James Usher, and drummer Johnny Hoblin. Known for their unique blend of organic and electronic music, Gamblers skillfully incorporates hip hop-influenced beat construction into their songwriting, creating a sound that resonates across indie rock, indie electronic, and pop genres.
The band’s journey began with the collaboration of McManus and Gary O’Keefe, who sought to explore their musical ideas after touring with Vision Through Sound. Their early years were marked by significant creative growth, leading to collaborations with notable artists like Heems of Das Racist. This period culminated in the recording of their debut album, “Small World,” which was released in September 2020 and achieved impressive chart success, reaching #12 on the Alternative Rock chart.
In 2018, Gamblers released their debut EP, “Corinthian Order,” showcasing their artistic range. The addition of drummer Billy Rymer in 2019 further enriched their sound, leading to successful Halloween-themed cover releases that gained airplay on prominent radio stations. Their 2022 remix EP, “When We Exit,” highlighted their electronic and hip hop influences, featuring collaborations with artists like Mick Jenkins and Skyzoo.
Most recently, Gamblers released their second full-length album, “Pulverizer,” in March 2024. This album continues to push musical boundaries, focusing on themes of mortality and personal struggle, while incorporating cutting-edge production techniques. With a growing discography and a commitment to artistic evolution, Gamblers is poised to make a lasting impact on the music scene.
