Rick Wade

Rick Wade, a Michigan-born artist, began his career in the music industry in the late 1980s. He quickly became known for his distinctive style of techno and house music, which blended elements of funk and soul. Wade’s sound is characterized by deep, often elongated grooves, lightly accented with strings, vocal samples, and other delicate hooks. He is recognized for his minimalist production approach that achieves significant impact. Over nearly three decades, Wade has consistently contributed to the house music genre, building a discography that spans several pages and includes over 30 different labels worldwide.

In 1993, Wade founded his own record label, Harmonie Park. This label has released tracks from notable artists such as Mike Huckaby and Theo Parrish. His work has appeared on prominent labels including Rush Hour, Laid, Moods & Grooves, Track Mode, and Yore. As a DJ, Wade developed his skills by playing on various radio shows in Detroit, such as “Journey to the Land of House” on WCBN and “The Pulse” on 95.5fm. He also performed at venues like the Nectarine Ballroom. His DJ sets are known for their vinyl-fueled delivery, rich with funk and soul influences, and feature long-form grooves. His reputation as a DJ has led to performances at numerous venues and radio shows across Europe and the US.

Beyond his musical contributions, Rick Wade has expanded his creative endeavors into the fashion industry with his own clothing brand, Rick Wade Designs. This venture represents a diversification of his artistic expression. He has also been involved in collaborations such as his work with Art is the Place, which celebrated the Detroit-Berlin connection stemming from Tresor’s ‘From Detroit nach Berlin’ exhibition. Wade’s consistent output and unique sound have solidified his position as a respected producer and DJ within the global house music community, earning him recognition as a sought-after remixer.
