Now located in L.A., London-born Silky developed a love for electronic music at a time when it was practically a ‘fringe’ genre is his locale. Irrespective of peers, he stayed true to his love of four-to-the-floor and pursued his dream of becoming a DJ. A truly formative experience occurred when Silky met Frankie Knuckles; the two became friends and Frankie absorbed the role of mentor, inspiring Silky to following in the footsteps of the great, late Godfather of House.
Since establishing that friendship, Silky has blossomed into a highly respected artist that has put out acclaimed releases of several top imprints. His dexterity on keys and expert production techniques combine to present a dark but emotive sound aesthetic that explores the grey area between deep house and techno. With a back-catalogue that reads like a list of house labels to watch, Silky has releases on as Lower East, Alola, Superfreq, No.19 Music, My Favorite Robot, and many others. His early releases were picked up and praised by dance heavyweights, notably Dixon, Ame and Thugfucker.
When he’s not locked up in the studio, Silky is out on the road. He grew up spinning vinyl, and remains loyal to the format; the mark of a true DJ. His technical expertise and knowledge of the records inside his record bag are unrivalled, resulting in scintillating sets that rock dance floors from Hawaii to Hong Kong. Having played all over the world, Silky is fast becoming a DJ’s DJ as well as a crowd favourite.
With a musical schooling courtesy of Frankie Kuckles, an exceptional level of focus and heaps of innate ability, Silky looks set to blossom into one of electronic music’s finest assets.
