BeBe Winans has established himself as a distinguished gospel and R&B singer, songwriter, and producer, known for both his collaborative and solo work within the music industry. He has consistently delivered impactful performances and recordings throughout his career.
Syntax Creative announced a partnership with LoweKey Entertainment, home to gospel artist Debbie Winans.
Gospel legend and BMI Songwriter BeBe Winans will serve as a consultant and personal advisor to BMI President/CEO Mike O'Neill.
Benjamin “BeBe” Winans was born on September 17, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, as part of the notable Winans family, a group recognized for their contributions to gospel music. His career began in the early 1980s when he and his sister CeCe Winans gained recognition as background vocalists on Jim Bakker’s television program, “The PTL Club.” Their performances led to the recording of “Lord Lift Us Up” on PTL’s label. The success of this initial release prompted Winans and his sister to pursue a full-time singing career, leading to their departure from PTL. As a duo, BeBe & CeCe Winans released five albums, including the critically acclaimed “Heaven” and the platinum-selling “Different Lifestyles.”
In 1995, BeBe Winans began a solo career, signing with Atlantic Records and releasing his self-titled debut album in 1997. This album featured the international hit “I Wanna Be the Only One” with the British soul trio Eternal, which topped the UK Singles Chart in May 1997. Following this, he signed with Motown Records and released “Love & Freedom” in 2000, which included collaborations with Warryn Campbell, Brian McKnight, and Stevie Wonder. His career milestones also include film appearances, such as a role in the 2004 remake of “The Manchurian Candidate,” and a Broadway debut in “The Color Purple” in 2008. He has also been a host of radio programs, including “The BeBe Winans Radio Show” and “The BeBe Experience” for SiriusXM’s Heart & Soul.
Throughout his career, Winans has continued to produce music and receive numerous awards. In 2009, he reunited with CeCe for the album “Still,” which included the Dove Award-winning song “Close to You.” He served as a judge on BET’s “Sunday Best” and participated in the “We Are The World 25 for Haiti” remake in 2010. In 2012, he released “The Whitney I Knew,” a memoir about his close friend Whitney Houston. His musical success continued into 2025, when his collaboration “Father In Heaven (Right Now)” featuring Gerald Albright, reached number one on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, marking his third chart-topping single as a solo artist.
