The wonderfully talented Ben Adams is a singer, songwriter, and producer, best known for being a member of the boy-band A1. He won the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party Award for Most Fanciable Male in 2001. In 2009 he was a participant in the sixth series of Channel 4’s reality TV series Celebrity Big Brother. He has appeared on stage in pantomimes across the UK, and he took part in the Norwegian version of Strictly Come Dancing/Dancing with the Stars in 2012. In 2017 he took a leading role in the touring version of Flashdance the Musical, and he later co-wrote a new original musical, Eugenius!
Born and raised in Ascot, Adams started singing at school where he became head chorister in the choir. He was in a band with his friend Mark Read, and then the two got together with Paul Marazzi, and Christian Ingebrigtsen to form the boy band A1 in 1998. Their debut single, Be the First to Believe, entered the UK charts at No.6 in mid-1999, and the group went on to achieve chart success in the UK and other parts of the world, particularly Southeast Asia, in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They scored two No.1’s in the UK and six other Top 10 hits. They also won the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act in 2001. The band split the following year and Adams started pursuing a solo career, writing as well as performing. His debut solo single, Sorry, peaked at No. 18 in the UK chart in June 2005. His debut solo album, All Wrapped Up, was released in 2019, and his latest singles, I Can’t Let Go, in 2020. A1 reformed in 2009 wand in 2013 took part in ITV2’s reality documentary series The Big Reunion. In 2018 the band celebrated their 20th anniversary with an international tour.
