Culture Club are one of Britain’s most influential bands, a hugely successful and globally recognised phenomenon that have sold over 150 million records worldwide. Led by iconic frontman and vocalist Boy George, an accomplished solo musician in his own right, the group shot to fame in the 80s following the success of their debut album ‘Kissing To Be Clever’. They achieved an incredible twelve Top 40 hit singles between 1982 and 1999, including the number ones ‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’ and ‘Karma Chameleon’, the latter becoming 1983’s biggest selling single and topping the US Billboard Hot 100, earning them a place as one of the decade’s most successful pop acts.
Combining British new wave and American soul with reggae, calypso, and salsa, Culture Club have developed a unique and instantly recognisable style that helped them gain fans around the world. Their second album ‘Colour by Numbers’ sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, appearing on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Best Albums of the 1980s. In 1984, Culture Club won Brit Awards for Best British Group, Best British Single (‘Karma Chameleon’), and the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. They were nominated the same year for the Grammy Award for Pop Vocal by Group or Duo, in addition to receiving a nomination for a Canadian Juno Award for International Album of the Year.
This year, Culture Club are back with an expansive North American tour. Their reunion is being marked with the release of a new album ‘Life’, appearing almost 20 years after their last album, 1999’s ‘Don’t Mind if I Do’. Due out October 26th, it’s been preceded by uplifting new single ‘Let Somebody Love You.’
