Obi Ebele, known as O1, and Uche Ebele, known as U1, collectively known as Da Beatfreakz, are internationally recognized multi-platinum producers. Their journey began with an early immersion in Hip-Hop culture. Growing up, their father was a music journalist, and their mother had an eclectic taste in music, which led to their involvement in a church band. This early exposure fostered their musical skills, with both brothers becoming proficient in guitar and drums.
Developing their craft in South London, O1 worked at McDonald’s and U1 had a paper route to fund their home-built studio. They initially produced music for local artists. A significant turning point occurred through MySpace, where they connected with legendary producers Cool & Dre. This connection led to an invitation to St. Louis by Trakstarz, a hit-making production team. Their parents supported this move, and they signed with Trakstarz’s company for four years, gaining experience working with artists such as Chingy and Jon B. Upon realizing their shared ambition to produce, they established themselves as Da Beatfreakz, drawing inspiration from The Neptunes for their unique style. They describe their sound as an “exuberant blend of Afrobeat, Rap, Dancehall, and R&B,” identifying themselves as the future of music.
Relocating from New York to London, Da Beatfreakz continued to expand their influence by collaborating with artists globally and building their catalog. This period saw them secure placements on N-Dubz’s “Uncle B” album. They broadened their scope by working with songwriters like Kat Deluna and Jeremih. After achieving multiple number-one hits globally, platinum-selling albums, and over 200 million YouTube views, Da Beatfreakz are now focused on expanding their brand. This includes working with artists such as Sophia Grace, Luna, Giggs, Fekky, and Sneakbo, establishing themselves as DJs, and building their publishing company and record label to mentor new artists.
