Da Beatfreakz, comprised of brothers Obi ‘O1’ and Uche ‘U1’ Ebele, emerged from humble beginnings in South London, where they transformed a small bedroom into a makeshift studio. Their early influences included the vibrant sounds of Fela Kuti and Shina Peters, alongside their father’s career as a music journalist. This rich musical upbringing led them to join their church choir, igniting their passion for performance and paving the way for their future in music production.
Inspired by Garage pioneers like So Solid Crew and Dizzee Rascal, the duo initially pursued rapping but soon realized their true calling lay in production. Facing financial challenges, they worked various jobs to fund their dream, even resorting to less conventional means to acquire essential equipment. A turning point came when they reached out to American production outfit Cool & Dre, leading to an opportunity in Miami that would change their lives.
After honing their craft in the U.S. with notable collaborations, Da Beatfreakz returned to the UK, determined to bridge gaps between artists globally. Their recent work with British talents like Giggs and Mr. Eazi has solidified their reputation as a leading production duo, amassing millions of views and chart success.
Now, as they continue to create and inspire, Da Beatfreakz aim to uplift the next generation, proving that success is attainable. With ambitious projects on the horizon, they remain committed to their roots, believing that anyone from the UK or Africa can reach the top, just as they have.
