Dinah Jane

Dinah Jane Milika Ilaisaane Hansen was born on June 22, 1997, in Santa Ana, California. Raised in a musical family of Tongan, Samoan, Fijian, and Danish descent, she was introduced to music at the age of four. Jane began performing publicly at seven, singing the U.S. national anthem at local Orange County events, and recorded her first song, “Dancing Like a White Girl,” in 2011. She graduated from Orange County School of the Arts in 2015. Her early experiences laid the foundation for her later career in the music industry.

In 2012, Jane auditioned for the second season of The X Factor, where she performed Beyoncé’s “If I Were a Boy.” Although initially eliminated during the bootcamp round, she was brought back to form Fifth Harmony alongside Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello. The group achieved significant success, finishing third in the competition and subsequently signing a joint record deal with Simon Cowell’s Syco Records and L.A. Reid’s Epic Records. Fifth Harmony released several successful projects, including their debut EP “Better Together” (2013), and albums “Reflection” (2015) and “7/27” (2016), which featured hit singles like “Worth It” and “Work from Home.” They also contributed to the “Hotel Transylvania 2” soundtrack. After Cabello’s departure, they released their self-titled third album “Fifth Harmony” (2017). The group announced an indefinite hiatus on March 19, 2018, allowing members to pursue solo careers.

Following the hiatus, Dinah Jane launched her solo career, signing a record deal with Hitco Entertainment in August 2018. Her debut solo single, “Bottled Up” featuring Ty Dolla Sign and Marc E. Bassy, was released in September 2018, followed by a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She released her debut solo EP, “Dinah Jane 1,” in April 2019, which included tracks like “Heard It All Before.” In 2020, she announced the “Dinah Jane World Tour,” which was later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but released promotional singles such as “Lottery” and “1501.” After a hiatus, she returned in August 2023 with the single “Ya Ya” and subsequently released “Juice County Volume 1” in August 2024, continuing to explore her Polynesian roots and R&B sound.
