About

Fleet Foxes formed in Seattle, Washington, in 2006, with founding members Robin Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset. The band quickly gained recognition in 2008 following the release of their second EP, “Sun Giant,” and their self-titled debut album, both of which garnered critical acclaim. Their music, characterized by folk, rock, and pop elements, combined with intricate vocal harmonies, resonated widely and led to significant commercial success. Their debut album was featured on numerous year-end lists and was described by Rolling Stone as among the best of the decade, solidifying their position in the music scene. This early success was driven by widespread critical praise and effective word-of-mouth promotion, culminating in a record deal with Sub Pop.

The band continued their trajectory with the 2011 album “Helplessness Blues,” which received further critical acclaim and became their most commercially successful release, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard 200. Following a hiatus, Fleet Foxes returned in 2016 to record “Crack-Up,” released in 2017, marking a shift to Nonesuch Records. Their fourth album, “Shore,” released in 2020 through Anti- Records, was primarily a Robin Pecknold solo effort due to pandemic-related production challenges, but still achieved universal acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. The band has consistently been praised for their lyrical depth and distinctive sound.

Over their career, Fleet Foxes have evolved while maintaining their core artistic vision. They have toured extensively across North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, consistently selling out venues. Their live performances, characterized by their lush sound and harmonious vocals, have earned them a dedicated fanbase. The band’s consistent critical recognition, including two Grammy nominations, underscores their impact on contemporary indie folk and rock music.
