About

Gwen Renée Stefani was born on October 3, 1969, in Fullerton, California. She was raised in Anaheim and developed an early interest in music. Her musical career began in 1986 when her older brother, Eric, invited her to join his ska band, No Doubt, as a vocalist. After the original lead singer, John Spence, passed away in 1987, Stefani became the sole lead vocalist. The band signed with Interscope Records in 1991, but their initial self-titled album in 1992 struggled commercially due to the prevailing grunge trend. The band’s breakthrough came with their third album, “Tragic Kingdom” (1995), which featured hit singles like “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” and “Don’t Speak.” This album achieved significant worldwide success, selling over 16 million copies and earning a Grammy nomination. During this period, Stefani also collaborated on tracks with artists such as Moby and Eve, expanding her musical reach.

During No Doubt’s hiatus, Stefani launched a solo career with her debut album, “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.” (2004). This album, inspired by 1980s pop music, was a critical and commercial success, yielding hit singles like “Hollaback Girl,” which became the first US digital download to sell one million copies. She followed this with her second solo album, “The Sweet Escape” (2006). Stefani also ventured into acting, making her film debut as Jean Harlow in Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator” (2004). In 2003, she launched her fashion line, L.A.M.B., which later expanded to include the Harajuku Lovers line in 2005, drawing inspiration from Japanese culture. In 2014, Stefani became a coach on the seventh season of “The Voice,” a role she would revisit multiple times, achieving her first win as a coach in season 19.

No Doubt reunited for new music and tours, releasing “Push and Shove” in 2012. Stefani continued her solo endeavors with “This Is What the Truth Feels Like” (2016), her first solo album to reach number one on the Billboard 200. She released a Christmas album, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” in 2017. Her Las Vegas residency, “Just a Girl,” ran from 2018 to 2021. Stefani has collaborated with her husband, Blake Shelton, on multiple singles, including “Nobody but You” (2020) and “Happy Anywhere” (2020), both reaching number one on the Billboard US Country Airplay chart. In 2023, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her fifth studio album, “Bouquet,” was released in 2024, followed by announcements of No Doubt reunions for a Coachella appearance in 2024 and a Las Vegas residency in 2026.
