Jimin debuted in 2013 as a vocalist and dancer in the South Korean boy band BTS with ‘No More Dream’ from their first single, ‘2 Cool 4 Skool.’ After a concise six-month training period, he released solo tracks within the group, including ‘Lie’ (2016) from the album ‘Wings,’ ‘Serendipity’ (2017) from the ‘Love Yourself: Her’ EP, and ‘Filter’ (2020) off ‘Map of the Soul: 7.’ ‘Filter’ notably charted on the Billboard Hot 100, showcasing his solo prominence. He also co-wrote and co-produced ‘Friends’ from ‘Map of the Soul: 7,’ a track later featured in the Marvel Studios film ‘Eternals.’ In 2018, he received the Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit and graduated from Global Cyber University in 2020. Transitioning into significant solo endeavors, Jimin released his first credited solo song, ‘Promise,’ in 2018 on SoundCloud, breaking records for 24-hour debut streams. His highly anticipated debut solo album, ‘Face,’ released in 2023, achieved immediate global success, debuting at number one in South Korea and Japan, and number two on the US Billboard 200.
Looking ahead, ‘Who’ was recognized as Kpop Song of the Year at the iHeartRadio Music Awards (2025). He was inducted into the Nam-gu Hometown Love Donation System Donor Hall of Fame (2024) and made it onto Madame Tussauds Hot 100 list (2025), cementing his global icon status. He also engages in philanthropic efforts, supporting education and various charitable organizations.
