John Rich, born on January 7, 1974, in Amarillo, Texas, is a prominent American country music singer-songwriter known for his versatile career spanning from band member to solo artist and collaborator. He first gained recognition as a member of the country band Lonestar from 1992 to 1998, where he played bass guitar and alternated as lead vocalist with Richie McDonald. After leaving Lonestar, Rich embarked on a solo career, initially signing with BNA Records. Although his early solo releases included a few singles and the unreleased album *Underneath the Same Moon*, it was his self-released 2001 album *Rescue Me*, inspired by a cancer patient named Katie Darnell, that marked a turning point in his career.
In 2003, Rich joined forces with Big Kenny to form the successful duo Big & Rich. The pair released three albums on Warner Bros.
