About

Carlos St. John Phillips, known professionally as SAINt JHN, was born on August 26, 1986, in Brooklyn, New York City. He spent his formative years between Brooklyn and Georgetown, Guyana, movements that shaped his early musical development. He began creating music at 12, influenced by his older brother’s local rapping. His first song was written during his high school years in Guyana. Before adopting the SAINt JHN moniker, he released an EP, “The St. John Portfolio,” and a mixtape, “In Association,” in 2010 under his birth name, Carlos St. John. This early period was instrumental in honing his songwriting skills and establishing foundational connections in the music industry.

SAINt JHN transitioned into a professional songwriter, contributing to tracks for various artists such as Kiesza, Gorgon City, and Nico & Vinz. Notably, he co-wrote two songs, “Crash” and “Rivals,” for Usher’s 2016 album “Hard II Love.” In 2016, he released “1999,” his first song under the SAINt JHN name, followed by “Roses” and “Reflex.” His debut album, “Collection One,” was released on March 30, 2018, featuring tracks that had collectively accumulated 50 million streams. Concurrently, he expanded into modeling, participating in Gucci’s “Guilty” campaign alongside Adesuwa Aighewi, indicating his early foray into brand collaborations beyond music.

The Imanbek remix of his 2016 song “Roses” significantly elevated SAINt JHN’s profile in 2020, reaching number one on the ARIA Charts and the UK Singles Chart and peaking within the top five of the US Billboard Hot 100. This success led to performances at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards and further collaborations, including remixes with Future and J Balvin. His third studio album, “While the World Was Burning” (2020), featured collaborations with artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, DaBaby, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, and Kanye West. In December 2022, he released “Stadiums” with London on Da Track, and his fourth album, “Festival Season,” was released in February 2025 as part one of his “Collection 2” project. Throughout his career, SAINt JHN has demonstrated consistent artistic output and a strategic approach to career development, merging musical innovation with broader brand engagement.
