The Head And The Heart first achieved national recognition when their eponymous debut album, re-released by Sub Pop in April 2011, reached number 110 on the Billboard 200, charting for ten consecutive weeks. Comprising Josiah Johnson, Jonathan Russell, Kenny Hensley, Charity Rose Thielen, Tyler Williams, and Chris Zasche, the band rapidly gained local acclaim in 2009 by independently selling self-burned copies of their debut in handmade denim sleeves. This early success led to their signing with Sub Pop in November 2010, which facilitated the widespread release of their album, featuring a remastered version of their concert closer ‘Rivers and Roads’ and a re-recorded track, ‘Sounds Like Hallelujah.’ Following their debut’s success, the band embarked on extensive tours across the United States and Europe throughout 2010 and 2011, opening for notable acts including Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, and Death Cab For Cutie. In March 2011, City Arts Magazine recognized them as ‘Seattle’s Best New Band,’ preceding their network television debut on Conan in April 2011.
Building on their consistent output and critical reception, the band has announced their sixth studio album, ‘Aperture,’ scheduled for release on May 9, 2025, promising new material for their dedicated fanbase and further showcasing their collaborative songwriting prowess.
