As one of the top American professional volleyball players Aaron Russell dominates internationally representing the United states and playing under the Diatec Trentino Volley club. While attending Penn State University, Russell honed his skills immensely earning him numerous recognitions from the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Graduating in 2015, he joined the Sir Safety Perugia club and the United States men’s national volleyball team alongside the decorated Matt Anderson and Jeffrey Jendryk.
Russell participated in the 2015 FIVB World League and 2015 FIVB World Cup brining home gold in both and receiving the title as best outside spiker. In 2016 he competed in the men’s tournament in volleyball at the Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro for Team USA bringing home the bronze medal and named best outside spiker. He later represented the United States at the 2017 Men’s NORCECA Volleyball Championship winning gold and being recognized as the best outside hitter.
By 2018 he left Sir Safety Perugia club and signed under the Diatec Trentino Volley club to play at the Italian Superlega Serie A. During this time Russell also participated in the FIVB Nations League, FIVB World Cup, and Men’s Club World Championship where he was named MVP for leading his club to gold. To date he was the U.S. Men’s second leading scorer for the 2019/2020 season and qualified to compete the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
