Ruggedly handsome Alan Ritchson is a multi-talented, award-winning actor, producer, writer, model and singer-songwriter best known for his portrayal of superhero Aquaman on The CW’s Smallville, and as Raphael in the Hollywood blockbuster, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and its sequel, Out of the Shadows. Since 2018 he has played Hank Hall/Hawk on the hit superhero TV series, Titans. And more recently, he has been cast in the title role of the forthcoming TV action series, Jack Reacher.
Ritchson was born in North Dakota and grew-up in various parts of the country due to his US Air Force father’s career. From 1999 to 2003, he attended Okaloosa Walton Community College as a dual-enrolment student and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. He was also a member of the Fine Arts division’s Soundsations and Madrigal Singers. After college, he began modelling, working for the Abercrombie and Fitch catalogue, and then came to the public’s attention in 2004 when he appeared on the reality TV show, American Idol. His first acting role came in Smallville in 2005 when he was cast as Aquaman, and since then he has gone on to feature in countless TV shows, including CSI: Miami, 90210, Blue Mountain State, and Blood Drive. He made his feature film debut in 2006’s The Butcher, and has since gone on to appear in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Lazer Team, and Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2021 with DarkWeb: Cicada 3301, an action-comedy thriller for which he also co-wrote and stars in. Away from acting, he released his debut album, This Is Next Time, in 2006.
