Oscar and Emmy-winning screen legend Alec Baldwin is the oldest brother in the Baldwin acting dynasty. In a career that has now spanned five decades, he has played major roles in film and television, with The Departed, 30 Rock, The Hunt for Red October, Beetlejuice, Glengarry Glen Ross, and The Aviator just some of his credits. His supporting role in 2003’s The Cooler saw him nominated for an Oscar. He has also appeared on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in a major revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. Whilst starring in 30 Rock, he won three Best Actor Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Actor, and a host of Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Baldwin first appeared on American screens in the early 1980s with a role in long-running NBC soap The Doctors. Further soap roles followed before he made his Broadway debut in 1986. The following year, he appeared in his first feature film, and his reputation grew steadily with roles in the likes of Beetlejuice, Working Girl, and The Hunt for Red October. He continued to grow in status throughout the 1990s, and at the start of the 2000s, acted in his highest-grossing film to date, Pearl Harbour. He also became known for his voice work, with credits including kids’ favourites Thomas & Friends and The Spongebob Squarepants Movie.
In 2006, Baldwin began playing Jack Donaghy in the satirical sitcom 30 Rock, which became the most successful role of his career. In 2017, he found more fame as a satirist with his regular impersonations of then-President Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live. It was a role that won him yet another Primetime Emmy. In 2021, he began co-starring in the NBC miniseries Doctor Death.
