Alejandro Speitzer is an award-winning Mexican actor who has been appearing in film and television since he was just five years old. Now in his mid-20s, he has starred in major telenovas such as Oscuro Deseo (Dark Desire), La reina del sur (Queen of the South), Bajo el mismo cielo (Under the Same Sky), and Esperanza del corazon (Hope of the Heart). A much-acclaimed actor, he won the 2018 Mexican Cinema Journalists Best Newcomer Award (18 years into his television career) for his co-starring role of Brayan Rodriguez in the comedy film Me gusta, pero me asusta (I Like It, But It Scares Me).
Born in 1995, Speitzer’s first television role came in 2000 with the starring role of Rayito in Rayito de luz (Ray of Light), a Mexican telenova. This was followed by a role in Aventuras en el tiempo (Adventures in Time), a time-travel based telenova in which he played Ernesto “Neto” del Huerto. In 2011, he landed his first major, ongoing role, that of Diego Dupris Landa in the Spanish-language Mexican telenova Esperanza del corazon. The show was a hit with audiences and Speitzer was nominated for the TVyNovela Award for Best Young Actor.
Among Speitzer’s most recent successes are La reina del sur, a multi-million-dollar production that is the second-most-expensive telenova ever made by American Spanish-language television giant Telemundo. The show proved worth its investment, winning the International Emmy Award for Best Non-English Language U.S. Primetime Programme. Over 20 years into his career, Speitzer is currently at the top of his game.
