The wonderful Alexis Nunes is a sports journalist, broadcaster, and host, who works for ESPN covering European football and cricket for the American market. She has also served as a commentator at Cricket World Cups, the Olympics, and for MLS matches.
Born and raised in Jamaica to an El Salvadorian mother and a Jamaican father, Nunes grew up surrounded by sport, in particular cricket and football. She initially wanted to be a veterinarian, but eventually opted to pursue a degree in broadcast journalism. After graduating from the University of the West Indies’s Caribbean School of Media and Communication, she started working at a local TV station, SportsMax.
In 2015, following a chance meeting with former football Robbie Earle, who was working with ESPN, Nunes secured a post with the sports channel. Since then she has hosted ESPN FC, their soccer news programme, and has covered many sporting events, including cricket, the Olympics, the Pan American Games, and FA Cup finals. She recently signed a multi-year contract extension where her role was expanded to ESPN’s LaLiga coverage, enabling her to travel throughout Spain as the channel’s English and Spanish language pitch side reporter.
Nunes regularly connects with her legions of followers and fans through Instagram, and Twitter, posting pictures and videos of her life around sports broadcasting.
